In the Year 1979 Mandal started chess tournament
under 13. In the memory of well - known chess player and co-ordinator
Late. Tammannacharya Padsalgikar. Dr. Krishna Narhar Padsalgikar donated
amount for the tournament. After the 12 years completion of this tournament,
this tournament was started under 8 years Padsalgikar family is donating
for the meals of the participants out of Sangli.
Mr. S. N. Tavaria requested Mandal to arrange chess tournament under14
in the memory of the Dr. T. D. Hathiram the parshi old man who contributed
much for the game of chess Tavaria family has sponsored this tournament.
From the year 1991 Mndal arranged chess tournament under 12 in the memory
of Late. Gajananrao Deodhar Mr. Prabhakarrao Deodhar sponsored the tournament.
Now a day this tournament is arranged in the memory of Late. Adv. Abasaheb
Ganu. Mr. Pramodsaheb Ganu is the sponsor of this tournament.
From the year 1992, Mandal arranged Late. Sou. Leelabai Ramchandra Deshpande
chess tournament under 10. Late. R. G. Deshpande donated Rs. 10,000/-
for the match and their son Mr. Dilip Ramchandra Deshpande donated Rs.
25,000/-.
